Average Education Cost:

• English language studies– Around $300 per week depending on course length

Basic Eligibility:

To avail the Australian Student Visa, the individuals are required to meet certain criteria before applying for the visa.

• English language proficiency – IELTS or PTE
• Applicant meets health and character requirements
• Acceptable Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
• Evidence of sufficient funds
• Recognised and valid academic certificates

Length of Courses:

The following is a guide only. Each course and each college or university may be slightly different:

• Certificate 6-18 months
• Diploma 6 months – 3 years
• Bachelors Degree 3-5 years
• Graduate Certificate 6 months
• Graduate Diploma 1 year
• Masters Degree 1-2 years
• PhD 4-5 years

Intakes:

Australian institutions have major intake in the month of February/ Early March each year.
July/ August intake is also a very big intake with few courses in the specialized programs not being offered at this point of time.

Some courses also start in the month of May, October and November.

Quality of education

Australia has a national regulatory and quality agency for higher education called – the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). It was established by the Australian Government to monitor quality, and regulate university and non-university higher education providers against a set of standards developed by the independent Higher Education Standards Panel. In addition, the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) law protects:

1. The wellbeing of all international students.
2. The quality of students’ education experience.
3. The provision of up-to-date and accurate information.

Rights for international students

As per the Australian Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, all programs that are offered to overseas students meet stringent government regulations.
