They will learn about the Knowledge of Careers Guidance, Thinking Skills and Subject-Based Practical Skills..



Career Discovery Seminar

222To aim of the session is to create awareness in students about the careers they can choose. By the end of the seminar, students will have learnt: the importance of Careers in their lives, the Career Planning Process, How to explore their careers and Identify their strengths and weaknesses for specific careers.

One-to-One Career Counselling

A one-to-one guidance session will help students decide what career they may be suitable for based on their interests, skills, values and personality… step-by-step. We will look at all the aspects involved in making a well informed realistic career decision and look at any barriers they may have to progress. Each student will take away an action plan*, careers information and any contacts they require.

  • Identify college/university majors that support their direction

*What is an Action Plan: A Career Action Plan is a career statement which will include all the steps that are required to take the student from where they are now to where they want to be. It will include a clear timeframe and be reviewed on a regular basis. Creating an Action Plan will improve their self-awareness, research, decision-making and time management skills. Action Planning is an ongoing cyclical process (as shown below).


Careers Assessment & Psychometric Testing

career-test-imgThere are a range of career tests from Personality & Type Indicators to Interest Inventories and Skill Surveys. Each category has quite a few tests and it’s not a wise decision to spend quite a lot of time and money into taking all of these tests.WeI use highly reputable advanced career assessments that are authenticated and much more result oriented than what you can get for free on the internet. They are quick to complete and give you good information on which you can base your Decision Making. Each Career test is followed by atleast half an hour of result interpretation by your Careers Adviser. This will help you to get a holistic picture of how the test suits your personality, meets your needs and helps you to achieve your personal goals.

Employability Skills

These are the skills, attitudes and actions that enable prospective employees to get along with their fellow employees and managers and to make sound, critical decisions. Employability skills include • communication • teamwork • problem solving • initiative and enterprise • planning and organising • self-management • learning This session will also focus on CV writing and interviewing tips.


Group Work

888Group Work focuses on conducting seminars on topics such as Stereotyping. For example: Nursing is considered by many boys to be a professional that is only for females. It’s about breaking the barriers of stereotyping which might hinder the progress of the clients.


Follow Up Career Counselling

11This 1 hour session will help students to follow up their career plans or ideas by reviewing their Action Plan created earlier. It will provide them with further help and look at challenges they have to take an action or following a particular goal. A follow on action plan will be given with careers information and contacts.
